I am grateful to one of my very dear friend, Farah Naz whose recipe i have tried and believe me it was a big hit.
INGREDIENTS:
Gram flour/ basan | 1 cup |
Butter | 200gms |
Sugar | 1 cup |
Milk | 2 cups |
Saffron | few threads |
Dessicated coconut | 2 tbsp (to sprinkle) |
Cardamom | 3-4 |
METHOD:
- In a pan add butter and cardamom. Let it melt then add gram flour.
- Cook till light brown . Add milk and stir constantly for five minutes.
- Now add sugar and saffron and mix well.
- Cook till sugar melts and become a little bit thick .
- Spread in a greased pan and press with wet hand or spatula. Sprinkle nuts and coconut.
- Let it set for few minutes and then cut shapes of your choice.
NOTE:
- I have used evaporated milk instead of fresh milk. End result was too good.
- I have used ghee instead of butter, reduce quantity of ghee to 100 gms. But go for butter first 🙂
- I have reduced sugar to 3/4 cup . You can ajust according to your taste.
Wow… this sounds like an interesting sweet… though the butter is scary! 🙂 Would love to try with less butter for sure… 🙂
Lolzz, Sure Raf 🙂
Can I use oil instead of butter or ghee??
No Sana it will not set without butter or ghee.
Can I use fresh milk instead of evaporated milk?
evaporated milk is different, if you ca get it then go for it. Otherwise boil normal milk and boil it till it becomes yellow in color and thick in consistency.
